Dr. Iain Percy OBE – CEO

Iain Percy OBE, a double Olympic gold medallist and multiple world champion, is one of the most talented and successful sailors in the world. Iain has a remarkable Olympic pedigree, winning gold in the Finn class at the Sydney Olympics; before teaming up with lifelong friend Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson to win gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and silver at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

 A veteran of four America’s Cup challenges, Iain had his first taste of America’s Cup action in 2005 as helmsman for the +39 Challenge, and was part of Great Britain’s America’s Cup challenge, Team Origin.

He joined Artemis Racing at the end of 2012 as a tactician, following the London Olympics. After showing inspirational leadership qualities during the difficult final few months of the 34th America’s Cup campaign, he was appointed Team Manager in October 2013.

Iain has an Economics degree from the University of Bristol and now leads the Artemis Technologies team.

David Endean – COO

Kiwi David has competed in four America’s Cup campaigns as well as three Volvo Ocean Race campaigns, juggling roles as a sailor and project management of the design and manufacturing of the race boats. His knowledge of composite manufacturing and high performance yachts in the marine industry makes him a valuable asset to the Artemis Technologies team.

Jonathan Nicols - Systems Chief Engineer

Jonathan’s background is in systems modelling, systems design, hydraulics and control systems. He began his career in motor sport at Pratt & Miller, including working as a Race Engineer with the Corvette Racing team. After being seconded to Artemis Racing for the 35th America’s Cup, to lead the hydraulics and controls department, and as a passionate sailor, continuing the journey with Artemis Technologies was a natural step.

Professor Mark Gillan – Autonomous Sailing Vessel (ASV) Project Lead

Northern Ireland born Mark is the Head of Innovation at Artemis Technologies and heads up the Autonomous Sailing Vessel (ASV) project.

Mark is former Head of Vehicle Performance at RedBull Racing, Head of Aerodynamics at Toyota, Chief Operations Engineer at Williams, Director of Advanced Technology at MTS Systems Corporation and CEO of Wavepower.

His connections with Bombardier and Queen’s University Belfast, his technological expertise and his familiarisation with the rich aerospace and maritime heritage of Belfast makes him the perfect fit to help Artemis Technologies in its pursuit for new green technologies and zero-emission vessels.

David Tyler - Commercial Director

A former international hockey player and law graduate from the University of Birmingham, David has a wealth of experience in Sales and Marketing.

Having previously worked at IMG and Havas Sports, David founded Tyler Sports Management in 2009, representing an impressive portfolio of clients including Mo Farah, Mike Brown, Iain Percy OBE, Christine Ohuruogu MBE, and Allan Wells MBE.

In 2014, he teamed up with Iain Percy at Artemis Racing, to lead the Swedish America’s Cup team’s commercial programme and continues to work with Iain on Artemis Technologies projects.

Simon Watin - Naval Architecture Lead

Simon, a specialist in performance prediction, graduated as a fluid mechanics engineer from the French École Polytechnique in 2007 before specializing in naval architecture with an Msc at the ENSTA the following year. After a Trans-Atlantic crossing in a 28 foot sailboat, he joined Doyle Sails in Auckland as a sail designer. In 2011 he joined VPLP Yacht Design in France where he developed in-house performance prediction and CFD capabilities. Within that team he was notably involved in the 34th America’s Cup shared design package, maxi racing trimaran projects (Prince de Bretagne 80 , Sodebo 4 and Macif 100), as well as foiling Open 60 projects for the 2016 Vendée Globe Race.

He joined Artemis Racing’s challenge in 2014 as a performance prediction specialist and led the design team from 2016 onwards to the 2017 America’s Cup in Bermuda. Since 2017, he’s been leading the simulation team in Cambridge, developing the sailing simulator and the team’s tool development program.

Nico Rousselon - Computational Tools

Nico Rousselon runs the computational fluid dynamic tools at Artemis Technologies. He was a member of the Artemis Racing team that competed in the 34th and 35th America's Cup. Prior to this he was part of JuanK's office and contributed to the design of two Volvo Ocean Race winners. He studied Naval Architecture, Computational Fluid tools at Southampton Solent, Southampton University and Strathclyde university.

His main interest is in the application of advanced numerical methods and tools to make sailing boats go faster around 3 buoys or around the world. When he's got time and the weather is warm he enjoys sailing (and tinkering) his foiling Moth dinghy.



Thomas Hahn & Christoph Erbelding  - Structural Engineers


Christoph Erbelding

As an expert on the field of lightweight engineering and structural mechanics Christoph can resort to broad knowledge and experience on the fields of conceptual design and computer-aided structural analysis and optimization.

Before collaborating with Artemis Technologies Christoph was in charge of the wing and rig structures at Oracle’s America’s Cup team for four Cup cycles which also included winning the Cup in 2013.

The practical design and manufacturing experience from this racing team environment blends into the background of 10 years of engineering work in a leading position at BMW. Before that he specialized in consulting work in the automotive, aeronautics and space industries.

Christoph holds a Masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Stuttgart University.


Thomas Hahn

As an expert in lightweight engineering and structural mechanics Thomas has a vast experience in the field of conceptual design and manufacturing application. He worked on numerous projects in various industries and management positions, i.e. Automotive, Civil, Aerospace, etc.

Besides his focus on development and design aspects, he gathered manufacturing knowledge during his 15 years at BMW Group being responsible for the integration of cars into the plant.

Thomas has a Masters degree in Aeronautics from University of Stuttgart, Germany.

Additional Notes: In addition to their work for Artemis Technologies, Christoph and Thomas are founding partners of iXent GmbH in Munich, Germany. Ixent provides technology consulting and engineering services in applied lightweight engineering.

Christoph and Thomas are in charge of structural design, analysis and optimization at Artemis Technologies.
