Paul Cayard is one of the world’s best known sailors having been the first American skipper to win the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1998 with EF Language. During the Volvo Ocean Race 2005-06, Cayard skippered the Disney entry Pirates of the Caribbean, winning the final leg into Gothenburg (Sweden) to place second overall.

Cayard brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Artemis. Cayard is a seven-time sailing world champion, a five-time America’s Cup veteran and two-time Olympian. Cayard’s accolades include winning the Star World Championships in1988, election to the Sailing World Hall of Fame in 2002 and winning Rolex Yachtsman of the Year in 1998.
