ARTEMIS RACING WELCOMES GUNVOR GROUP AS MAIN PARTNER
Artemis Racing today announces that Gunvor Group, one of the world’s largest independent commodities trading houses, has become a Main Partner of the team.
“As CEO and founder of Gunvor, I’m proud to be able to associate this global company with the world’s most prestigious sailing competition,” said Team Principal of Artemis Racing and CEO of Gunvor Group, Torbjörn Törnqvist. Gunvor’s branding will adorn team kit and sailing yacht, alongside other sponsors.
The 35th America’s Cup will take place in Bermuda next June, and the team has left nothing to chance in its quest to win the oldest trophy in international sport. Artemis Racing has relocated to the island early, giving team members the opportunity to live and train in the venue, before many of the other challengers arrive.
In order to qualify to race in the final America's Cup match against Oracle Team USA in June 2017, the team will first have to successfully navigate through the America's Cup Playoffs and Finals.
It would be a truly historic event if the Swedish team were to be victorious next summer as only four countries in the world have ever won the America's Cup. Team Manager Iain Percy is not, however, underestimating the task ahead:
"We are now reaching the business end of the campaign with the finals in Bermuda only a few months away. It won’t be one thing that wins or loses this America’s Cup. For us it’s about making those continual improvements, however small, and building a momentum that will be difficult for the others to catch”.
