The best youth sailors on the planet will vie for glory in the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup finals this week. After winning their group in the qualifying round, Artemis Youth Racing are looking forward to getting back on the water.

Amid the already-charged atmosphere of the 35th America’s Cup Match races, eight international teams of sailors aged 18 to 24 will amp the excitement even higher over two days until the champions of the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup are crowned.

There’s more than a trophy at stake. Launched in 2013, the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup was developed by Sport Directors Roman Hagara and Hans Peter Steinacher to provide a pathway toward a professional career, and America’s Cup syndicates have been watching closely. Now that Austria, Denmark, Japan and the USA have been eliminated in Qualifiers, the Finals are the last chance for the remaining teams to show the sailing world what they’re made of.

Peter Burling, skipper of Emirates Team New Zealand, was famously a part of the Kiwi’s youth campaign in San Francisco in 2013. And Andreas Axelsson who sailed with Artemis Racing in the America’s Cup qualifiers, did his America’s Cup debut in the same regatta four years ago as a part of Artemis Youth Racing.

The teams who have earned a berth in the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup Finals this week are: Team France Jeune (France), SVB Team Germany (Germany), Land Rover BAR Academy (Great Britain), NZL Sailing Team (New Zealand), Spanish Impulse by IBEROSTAR (Spain), Artemis Youth Racing (Sweden), Team Tilt (Switzerland) and – in a magical story for the Home of the 35th America's Cup – Bermuda’s own TeamBDA.

On paper, Artemis Youth Racing and New Zealand are provisional favorites based on Qualifier placement and the Kiwi team’s status as the defending champion. But the terrifically close results so far indicate that the top step of the podium is anyone’s to claim.

“Now we have to refocus, analyze our performance so far and come back strong for the final round. Our goal in this round was really just to get through to the next stage, and we have really good confidence after our four wins. Still, we know we have to push ourselves even more in the final”, said Gustav Pettersson, Skipper of Artemis Youth Racing.
